Sweets and Your Teeth

Halloween is right around the corner and if you haven’t had your dental appointment yet, Dr. Jia Y. Lee, DDS sure hopes you have one scheduled right after. If you are a candy lover, you may or may not have had at least one cavity in your lifetime. It’s one thing to learn from your mistakes, but if you haven’t and you are cavity-prone, it may be a good idea to take it easy on the candy this holiday season.

Chocolate is one of the most popular Halloween treats to be passed around and it’s one of the better candies to enjoy. Simply because chocolate washes off the teeth easier than hard and sticky candies which will linger and attack tooth enamel. Sticky and gummy candies are some of the worst for your teeth because they give the cavity-causing bacteria more time to attack your teeth and gums. If you’re going to indulge this year, be sure to brush and floss when you’re done!
